Welcome
The three sister organizations KanORS-EMR (India), HALOA Inc. (Canada) and KanLo Consultants (France), offer more than 30 years of expertise in mathematical and economic modelling of energy and environment systems, directed at the analysis of local, national, multi-country and global policies in the domain of energy and the environment. We also design and construct customized interfaces for the user-friendly exploitation of databases and results from complex mathematical and economic models in all domains, via the flexible VEDA environment (the VErsatile Data Analyst).
Our strength derives from a unique blend of strong theoretical and algorithmic expertise, experience with the construction and use of large models, and ability to build advanced software tools to facilitate and enhance the construction, handling, and maintenance of large scale models.
Projects
We operate in the following three areas:
- Policy and Research
We use advanced mathematical techniques and tools, mathematical economic models such as MARKAL, TIMES, and others. - Methodology and Tools
We develop energy and environment models based on state-of-the-art economic and mathematical paradigms, involving optimization, equilibrium computation, and probability theory. We also specialize in web-based tools to collaborate with a diverse set of domain experts. - Capacity Building
We help clients set-up their own energy-environment models.
Models
- KINESYS+
KINESYS+ (Knowledge based Investigation of Energy system Scenarios) is a bottom-up, technology rich, least-cost optimization, multi-regional global integrated assessment model, which is developed using the TIMES model generator of IEA-ETSAP. - PET36
The Pan-European TIMES (PET) is a multi-country model where the energy system of each country of the EU27, plus Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and the six Baltic countries are represented separately, and linked to the others by the trade of energy commodities. It was initially developed within the European NEEDS project (New Energy Externalities Developments for Sustainability is a project funded by EU-FP6).
Software
-
- VEDA2.0 is a powerful tool required by complex mathematical and economic models for handling data input and smart exploration of the results created by such models and the creation of reports. VEDA is under continuous development, driven by a strong desire to keep increasing the efficiency and transparency of managing input and output of data-intensive models.
- Veda online (VO) enables working with TIMES models via Internet Browsers. Veda model folders are expected to be on GitHub, and all the core functionality of Veda2.0 – Synchronizing Excel files, browsing input data, running models, and looking at results/reports – is available online.
More Information available here.
There are licensed VEDA users in 92 countries.
